Droid Does

I’m kicking back watching some Monday Night Football on this extremely rare occasion that I’m not at work during the game. And a commercial comes on that describes the several shortcomings of the iPhone so I become very intrigued who would dare taunt Apple so blatantly. After pointing out all of those shortcomings saying that iDont do something, it says Droid Does.

So I head to droiddoes.com, the website that is noted at the end of the commercial. The website is very bare on information other than showing a flash animation that is the commercial that had just aired on tv. It really just allows you to sign up to be on the mailing list for info on when this phone will hit Verizon’s networks.

But the url provides enough info for me to see that this is a Motorola phone coming to Verizon. I google’d Motorola Droid and saw some pics and quick review type info about the phone.

If I were in the market for a phone, I’d be staying on top of info about this phone! As a Verizon user, I have been looking forward to an Android phone or the iPhone arriving. Hearing that the Palm Pre (and its webOS) would be going multi-network was about as close as I’ve been to having that anticipation sated.

So, here’s to hoping that this turns out to be an amazing phone. And that between it and the HTC Hero, Android is going to be a platform to be dealt with in the upcoming year.

iPhone OS still going strong, Windows Mobile 6.5 followed soon by Windows Mobile 7, Palm Pre OS continuing to be refined and then added to more phones, Blackberry OS still alive and kicking, and now Android coming on strong… mobile OS’s are a very interesting market right now, very interesting indeed.
